One Nation rally In U.S


Liberal groups hoping to relive the excitement before the midterm elections are encouraging members to appear at the mall on Saturday for a meeting expected to draw tens of thousands of people.
Its objective is to recover the sense of excitement that arose between the groups left after the 2008 presidential race, but more recently has belonged to the group Tea Party and other conservative activists. Conservative commentator Glenn Beck filled the mall with tens of thousands of his supporters last month.
The organizers of the demonstration on October 2, known as a nation, calling for "the most diverse place in history." The amalgam of liberal 300 groups - environmentalists, anti-war activists, church and civil rights groups, labor organizers, coalitions of gay rights and others - is planning four hours of speeches, songs and poems the spoken word.
"We lose them separately, and the absence of a strategy to work together we will continue to lose," said Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins, executive director of Green for All, an environmental group supporting the march. "We must be able to take critical action on all issues facing this country. We are at a critical moment in history, and we have the opportunity to advance in a really significant."
The group of the nation in hopes of creating a sort of competition with the protest movement. If the merger is successful, the organizers try to keep groups together to become a political force revived. "We are not an alternative to the tea party, they are the antidote," said NAACP President Benjamin Jealous, who has also been a lead organizer. The team that produces annual NAACP Image Awards show program together of a nation.
The groups involved represent many of Obama's key supporters, including the National Council of La Raza, the NAACP, AFL-CIO, SEIU and the American Association student.
