San Diego Traffic Closed Due To Accident

The south side of Interstate 15 in San Diego was closed for two hours yesterday afternoon after a tractor-trailer hit a bridge under construction on the highway, leaving a metal beam hanging over the rails,
The accident injury not the Carroll Canyon Road was reported shortly before 1:30 pm, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident, involving a commercial truck carrying a load of large, corrupt underpinnings - a temporary support structure is used for bridge work - built as part of a project to add carpool lanes to Interstate , Caltrans spokesman Edward Cartagena said.
The impact off of I-shaped steel and left it partially protrudes down from the bridge, the CHP reported.
The five southbound lanes were closed for Caltrans staff to assess damage and make repairs, Cartagena said.
Traffic was being diverted from the highway and back in the south of the bridge, creating congestion of miles north. The slowdown began in Camino Del Norte.
"The I-15 Express Lanes route usually carpools, trucks, buses and singledrivers who pay a fee in the northbound travel during the afternoon, but Caltrans will change the direction of travel to accommodate all traffic the south. "Edward Cartagena said Caltrans.
"The residual effect will be increased traffic congestion and possible delays in the northbound direction, he added.
In the first repair is expected to last the journey through the afternoon, according to Caltrans. However, crews were able to open the southbound lanes at 3:30 pm
