Former Republican currently earns more Democrats support Meek in the polls. But Meek's new status as a candidate of his party, a multi-murderer and one of the frontrunners nationally black, Democratic-leaning Crist will on all charges and major donors, in an awkward position.
`` I tried to make clear to reduce the Democratic Party,''said U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings, who was one of the first black member of the Florida Congress since Reconstruction when elected in 1992. `` I can not begin to tell you how bad I am with some Democrats. I do not think it's fair.''
Before the vote in St. Petersburg on Tuesday, Crist called himself `` an independent voice''and argued that Democrats should continue to support him in November. `` I can win,''he said.
In his speech accepting the Republican nomination in Miami, Rubio said, `` I am not a candidate for the opposition. I am not a candidate to be just against the people. I think there's a better way of doing things, and so do the majority of Floridians and Americans.''
Meek, visiting churches in Miami, on Sunday, Greene said he did a better candidate, although he described the campaign as a painful process ``''.
`` I tell the weight of $ 26 million is pretty heavy, and gave us the strength to win against all financial forecasts,''he said. `` I think my primary campaign needed to present our case.''
Meek is planning a victory lap around the state on Wednesday, with stops in Miami, Hollywood, Boca Raton, Orlando and St. Petersburg. Rubio and Crist also is expected to make rounds throughout the state this week.
