The
unemployment rate in
New York declined. While this is good news on the state economy, there is a downside for those who are still looking for work. A recent exchange rate for April, May and June was 8.3%. This places the state unemployment rate below 8, paragraph 5, the threshold Feds set of additional weeks of
unemployment benefits.
This means that in New York, the unemployed will receive 1993 weeks of assistance rather than weeks of 1999, provided when the rate was higher.
