Martin will be at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia today to play 111 Army Navy. The game is televised nationally starting at 11:30 am on CBS (Channels 5 and 13).
The Vacaville Graduate School jersey No. 83 and has spent most of his time on special teams, although it has seen action this season in a backup role at strong safety.
The game of Army Navy is usually marks the end of the season for the Black Knights. But the Army has a record of 6-5 and has already earned a date in the Armed Forces Bowl Dec. 30 against SMU in Dallas, regardless of the outcome today.
"He's our plate for the first time in years, so we are very excited about that," said Martin. "But we also look at the Navy game as a bowl game in itself. It's our biggest rival and a chance to play a great team and school."
Marina has the overall advantage to 54-49-7 and has owned the series in recent years, winning eight consecutive games. The Midshipmen won 17-3 last year and no current member of the Black Knights had beaten Navy.
Martin went to West Point expecting to be a receiver, but as a good soldier, who has been able to adapt. Last year the Army needed more depth at linebacker, and Martin was one of eight freshmen on the team to win a letter. He played in 12 games and made 16 tackles.
