Rutgers University Student Death Ellen DeGeneres spoke out


Ellen DeGeneres spoke out against bullying teenager Thursday in the wake of the September 22 death of a Rutgers student."I am devastated by the death of 18-year-old Tyler Clementi," he wrote on the website of your program. "If you do not know, Tyler was a brilliant student at Rutgers University, whose life was cut short meaningless. Was marginalized for being gay on the internet and was killed."
DeGeneres said that September was the fourth floor of suicide among teenagers "who have been subjected to ridicule and harassment."
The death of freshman year - his last Facebook message by "jump from the bridge gw sorry", and the family's lawyer confirmed that it was a suicide - came after his roommate, Ravi Dharun with his friend Ravi, Molly Wei, allegedly used a webcam in her bedroom to record a Sept. 19 sexual encounter between Clementi and another guy, and then disseminate it online. Another attempt at the webcam is alleged to have happened on 21 September and Ravi posted on Twitter in August that he had learned his roommate was gay.Ravi and Wei, both 18, have been accused of invasion of privacy, and according to ABC News Prosecutors are considering charges of bias crimes and, if Clementi's sexual orientation emerges as a reason.
DeGeneres linked to a number of supporting organizations, including matthewsplace.com thetrevorproject.org and that support gay and questioning teenagers, and harassment AngelsandDoves.com groups, Pacer.org / intimidation, and stompoutbullying glsen.org . com."We have an obligation to change this situation," said DeGeneres. "There are messages all over the world that show this type of harassment and ridicule and we have to make it stop. We can not allow intolerance and ignorance of the life of another child."
Demi Lovato is another celebrity who is working against bullying teenager. Blogger Perez Hilton has gone from the likes of Ciara, Lala Vasquez and Jay Manuel from "America's Next Top Model" to make videos to support children who may be getting harassed about his sexuality, reports CNN. Hilton said the cast of "Glee" is going to make a video like that.
