There are not many companies in the world that will force Sony and Nintendo at the time of game, but Panasonic has decided that going to give it a try.
La Selva Panasonic is a portable game system that looks like a portable DVD player (it is a thick shell device.)
There are a couple of games have been announced for this: Battlestar Galactica MMO and an online Machinima badass call metro line says it's too soon for the console.
In the promotional video - which has to be seen to be believed - that the Forest kicker Panasonic says: "We are in online gaming."
There are probably millions of people now use computers, Xbox and PS3, which does not agree.
It also says the device is a "mean little machine. But the less said about that the better.
Jungle Boogie
The portable gaming device appears to be oriented to play multiplayer games on the road network, which sounds like a decent idea - but will have to draw MMOs already successful, instead of coming up with their own, if you have any hope of success.
La Selva Panasonic looks like it runs on Linux, however, so you should see some Flash-based content (Farmville etc) heading for the device.
The device has a QWERTY keyboard, a high-resolution screen and buttons of normal can be expected.
The portable gaming console market is interesting at this time. It seems that the tricks to separate dedicated game machines smart phones and iPods in the world.
Nintendo is using 3D, Sony is trying to download and now the only Panasonic is looking at the MMO.
Panasonic will be hoping that a market exists for this and will have more luck with the forest than it did with the ill-fated 3DO.
