Some registration offices open on Sunday for the first time after the couples were asked if they could get married at the time.
Manchester Register Office is open for the third time on a Sunday since its inception in 1837.
Ngaryan Li, who is married to Steven Higham, said: "I am of Chinese origin and is seen as a good date."
She added: "This means that the perfect day."

In total, six couples have managed to get married in Manchester on Sunday Registry.
Ms. Li, a lawyer for Stephenson in St Helens, Merseyside, met her boyfriend when she took over his job and spent a period of handover between them. He now works as an executive in the legal branch of the company Wigan.
They have been planning their wedding for a year.
Ms. Li said, "I feel very fortunate to have that date."
Chichester Register Office, West Sussex, is opening for the first Sunday in its history.
A spokesman for West Sussex County Council, said it was "in response to popular demand."
