Steven Jackson And Washington Redskins

Despite playing without star running back Steven Jackson for most of the game, the St. Louis Rams held off the Washington Redskins, 30-16 on Sunday its first win of the season.
The Rams got three field goals in the fourth quarter of a place kicker Josh Brown and rookie quarterback Sam Bradford overcame a 12-year veteran Donovan McNabb to help the Rams to overcome the loss of Jackson in front of 52,370 at Edward Jones Dome. Jackson left the game with 4 minutes 2 seconds left before halftime and did not return.
The Rams improved to 1-2. After an opening victory over the Dallas Cowboys, the Redskins (1-2) has losses to Houston and San Luis.
With 3 minutes 39 seconds to go in the quarter and the Redskins trying to overcome a deficit of 11 points, the quarterback McNabb threw a poor pass under pressure and cornerback Bradley Fletcher intercepted him at the Washington 45.
On third and 20 Washington 49, rookie quarterback Sam Bradford and receiver Mark Clayton joined in a play of 25 yards. Brown kicked his third field goal, this one from 36 yards, to all but seal the victory with 1:44 showing on the game clock.
The Rams extended their lead to 11 points, 27-16, with 4:22 remaining in the game on the field goal Brown 29 yards.
Early in the quarter, the Rams went ahead by eight points, 24-16, in the aim of Brown's 37-yard field. The Redskins needed to make a quick move. They did not and San Luis did enough to take the victory.

As expected, the Redskins ran out the front leading rookie Trent Williams, who suffered knee injuries and finger on the week of the loss of two of the Houston Texans. Stephon Heyer replaced Williams in the starting lineup, and there was no shuffling along the line as well.
Lichtensteig lineman Kory, who was out of football last season, started in place of Derrick Dockery at left guard. Lichtensteig Dockery and have been fighting in the position since training camp and apparently Lichtensteig won the battle, at least for this week.
The Redskins overcame a 14 points and took the lead, 16-14, with 12:42 remaining in the third Gano field goal from 21 yards.
But Bradford led the team in one of 12 plays and 79 yards Darby finished with a career 12-yard touchdown. The successful point after kick gave the Rams a 21-16 advantage, which was the score to start the fourth.
