Multiple formulas Similac powdered infant formula, manufactured by Abbott, have been voluntarily withdrawn after the possibility of a small beetle could have infiltrated some of the products in a manufacturing plant. The recall affects only powdered formulas, no pre-mixed liquid formula.
If you already have bought a powdered Similac, search the bottom for lot number, then visit www.similac.com / memory / search and enter the lot number to see if the recall list or call 800 -986 to 8850.
An internal quality control in the manufacturing plant revealed a small possibility that the beetles may have entered into certain products, although the FDA says that formulas containing these beetles do not pose a serious health threat.

However, the FDA said children can "experience the symptoms of gastrointestinal discomfort and refusal to eat, as a result of irritating insects, small parts of the digestive tract" and advises that a doctor be notified if symptoms last more than a few days .
