"For everything that has happened since 2005, all the things he said in the media and everything, I feel guilty, yes," van der Sloot, 22, said in the interview, portions of which were issued by NBC "Today" on Tuesday.
The Dutch citizen is in jail in Lima, Peru, where they await trial on a murder charge in death of student from Peru Stephany Flores. His body was found in May in a hotel room to van der Sloot, the two were seen entering video camera surveillance. He is also charged with one count of wire fraud and one count of extortion in Alabama for allegedly trying to extort more than $ 250,000 for Holloway family in exchange for revealing the location of her body.
Holloway was last seen in the early hours of May 30, 2005, leaving a nightclub in Oranjestad, Aruba, with van der Sloot and two other men, brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe.
