The rebels said this week that the quarterback Jeremiah Masoli can not enjoy the season. Then on Friday, won an appeal that Masoli allowed to play.
The uncertainty did not seem to slow Ole Miss early in the game. Behind Nathan Staley at quarterback, ran to 31-10 at halftime. Masoli played most of the second half and overtime, where the Gamecocks tried a shameful defeat the rebels.
Rebels coach Houston Nutt did not mince his words after the game.
"Without doubt, the worst defeat of my career," said Nutt.
But the defeat does not mean the season is over. One could forgive the rebels because of his game with so much uncertainty before kickoff. Masoli is understandable rusty after missing spring practice and be late to Oxford by way of transfer.
There is also a lot of time to right the ship. There is a Tulane game and the dates of your house with Fresno State and Vanderbilt after the Rebels allowed to recover in time for the flesh of his time with the SEC.
