Dev Anand 87th birthday


Living legend Dev Anand Dharam actor popularly known as Dev mark his 87th birthday on Sunday.
Dev Anand was born on September 26, 1923 is an Indian Bollywood actor, director and film producer. Dev is the second of three brothers who were active in Bollywood. His elder brother Chetan Anand was a film director, like his younger brother Vijay Anand. His sister, Sheel Kanta Kapur, is the mother of renowned Hindi and English film director Shekhar Kapur.
It is so far considered the evergreen actor, the famous jewel thief is known as the heartthrob of millions. With an acting career spanning over 60 years in the industry, Bollywood, Dev Anand, even today is known for his passion and zeal to his work. This is the burning of which leads to 'Jiyo Dil Se ". This eminent personality has ruled the big screen for almost a decade and has excelled in all areas of work, whether acting, directing or producing the film.
Dev Dharam Dev Anand was born in Gurdaspur district in Punjab undivided right-to-do advocate Kishorimal Anand. He graduated in English literature from Government College, Lahore (now in Pakistan). His love for acting made him leave his hometown for the center of the Hindi film industry, Mumbai. Dev began his career in the military censor office at Churchgate, Mumbai, for a salary of Rs.160.
He was offered before a break as an actor by Prabhat Talkies to star in his film Hum Ek Hain (1946). During the filming of the movie in Pune, Dev struck a friendship with another man legendary actor Guru Dutt.
Dev was offered his first big break by Ashok Kumar. Dev saw walking around in school and picked him as the hero of the Bombay Talkies production, Ziddio, costarring Kamini Kaushal (1948), which became a success. In 1949, Dev turned producer and launched his own company Navketan, which continues to produce films.
Dev chose to rely on Guru Dutt as director for crime thriller, Baazi (1951). The collaboration was a success at the box office. He also played some characters with a negative tone, as in Jaal (1952). Rahe and Aandhiyan His films are screened there along with Raj Kapoor's Awaara. In the same year, Taxi Driver was declared a success. Dev heroine was Kalpana Kartik again Singha alias Mona, and their wedding day in a quiet ceremony. The couple had a son, Suneil Anand in 1956.
A rapid-fire style of dialogue delivery and a penchant for nodding while speaking became Dev's style in films like Munimji, CID and paying guests. His style was shot by the public and was widely imitated. He starred in a series of blockbusters for the remainder of the 1950's. In 1955 he co-starred with Dilip Kumar in Insaniyat. With his performance in Kala Pani (1958), as the child is willing to go to any lengths to clear the name of his father's framing, he won the award for Best Actor for the film.
He was romantically involved with singer-actress Suraiya and the two pairs in six films together. She fell in love during the filming of a sequence of songs in the film, a boat capsized and Dev Anand saved Suraiya from drowning. Her grandmother opposed the relationship, because they were Muslims and therefore, Suraiya remained unmarried all his life.
