Georgia Election Results Of 2010


Former Georgia Governor Roy Barnes to avoid round of elections on Tuesday, winning the state primary by a wide margin, with 84 percent of the results counted, Mr.. Barnes was the leader with 64 percent of the vote.

However, this can not be said for the Republicans, where Karen Handel, a former Secretary of State which was endorsed by Sarah Palin, came in first in the Republican gubernatorial primary in Georgia on Tuesday night and will face Nathan Deal, a former congressman, in the Aug. 10 runoff.


Ms. Handel
, who as of June 30, raised far less money than its three main opponents, the campaign against what she described as "old friends" and had already been raised in the polls, when it was endorsed by Ms. Palin last week.

Mr. transactions declined from Congress to run for the seat.

The winner of the second round will face former Governor Roy Barnes, the winner of the primaries the Democratic Party, Nov. 2 general election.
