There are several races of interest, and the most important of which are the Republican primary for governor. Secretary of State Karen Handel is expected to reap the most votes in a crowded primary, but it is unlikely to avoid a runoff, so it will be important to see who comes in second.
There are three other candidates in the race that, at least legitimate chance to make it flow: Former Nathan transaction, Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine and former state Sen. Eric Johnson. You can follow the election results live in policy.
7:00 pm – Polls now closed in the state, but do not expect any real numbers, at least half an hour.
7:50 pm – with almost an hour after the start of counting, we’re still only 1% of profits. So far in the transaction GOP Gov primary leads with 29%, Handerl 23% 23% 17% Oxendine Johnson
8:05 pm – 5% reporting Handerl 31,8%. Oxendine 21,7% and 21,4% of the transaction are extremely close in the second
8:15 pm – in the 12 th district with 16% reporting it looks like John Barrow (D) will hold on to his seat. He was 64,7% compared with Thomas on 35,3%. Thomas has shown improvement in recent weeks, but not enough.
8:35 pm – in the eighth district GOP primary Austin Scott sits right on the bubble with 22% reporting. It is 49,9% of votes, just shy of what is needed to avoid a runoff against Ken Deloach at 31,8%.
8:58 pm – It was not a lot of the race, but Mike Thurmond was declared the winner of the Democratic Senate with 82,7% of votes.
9:05 pm – Republican runoff Government is increasingly looking to be Handel’s against the deal with 22% reporting. Handel is at 32,6%, 24,7% of transactions, at 17.8 Oxendine Johnson at 17,6%
9:20 pm – Dem Gov candidate Roy Barnes should easily be able to avoid a runoff, and prepare for the general while Republicans continue to fight with each other. Barnes is currently 57,9% of votes.
9:27 pm – Roy Barnes was officially declared winner in the Dem primary state.
9:40 pm – Dem Valid Hank Johnson is looking for a safe 4 th district. With 28% reporting Johnson 55%
9:56 pm – This majority feels endless campaign of Rep. Tom Graves. With 76.1% reporting it just under the bubble with 49,8%, and Lee Hawkins has 23,5%. If Graves is forced into runoff, which will be the fourth election in a few months, in which Graves is facing Hawkins.
10:30 pm – AP has been real slow running challenge, but with 77% reporting current Dem John Barrow up to 63% to 37% of Thomas is very clear that he was going to win in the 12 th District.
10:35 pm – the big race today, the main Republican Government has just been called with 77.9% reporting. This will be a second round on August 10 between Handel with 32,9% and 23,8% of transactions.
10:40 pm – 4 th District Republic Johnson (D) will avoid the runoff. He has just been declared the winner immediately.
10:45 pm – In the 12 th it was a call to action Dem John Barrow.
10:51 pm – Barrow will not know who the enemy is. Primary GOP produces runoff between McKinney with 44% and Smith with 27%. Barrow is a strong favorite in general.
10:55 pm – In the 9 th District, seemingly never ending battle continues. Rep. Tom Graves was a force again in the runoff against Lee Hawkins only get 49% of the votes. This will be the fourth election in a few months, when they collide with each other. Graves campaign team will be very tired on August 10.
10:57 pm – the creation of choice Austin Scott won eight GOP primary area clean and go to the person acting Jim Marshall as a whole. Despite a rather Republican leaning district Marshall still stands to win, but could be a decent fight on his hands.
11:02 pm – GOP primary in a very red-seventh district had just been called. This is the second round against Rob Woodall with 36,9% and Jody Hice of 25,7%. Will this drain is almost sure to become the next member of Congress from the Seventh District.
