Western Massachusetts


It wasn’t long after the Declaration of Independence was declared and adopted on July 4, 1776, that the partying began in various towns along the Eastern seaboard.

Modern-day celebrations of Independence Day retain the spirit and sentiment of this country’s earliest celebrations and include fireworks, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games and more, all of which can be found in Western Massachusetts in the days leading up to the Fourth of July and even several days afterward.


In Springfield, it will be all about patriotism and pyrotechnics when the state’s second largest city holds its annual Star Spangled Springfield organized by the Spirit of Springfield on Sunday, the Fourth of July.
