The couple, who have been married for 17 years, filed for divorce in Tennessee on Wednesday, citing irreconcilable differences, according to People magazine.
"As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family," said the two said in a statement. "We're trying to resolve some personal issues. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers."
The two have five children, including the "can not tame pop singer.
