Apple Cup 2010 Updates:Washington Leading 14-7 1st Half


The Washington Huskies threatened to run away with the Apple Cup to late second quarter interception Washington State safety Deon Bucannon in the end zone. Up 14-0, Washington quarterback Jake Locker looked Jermaine Kearse on the back of the end zone, but Bucannon stepped forward, picking it out and give an opportunity for the Cougars. Jeff Tuel and the Cougar offense is charged, driving the offense 80 yards in two minutes to score.
Jared Tuel Karstetter found in the back of the end zone from five yards and the score to lead the Cougs to a touchdown, 14-7. Outside the late heroics, the state of Washington was dominated statistically, as the Huskies outgained the Cougars from 234 to 135, including 100 to 56 on the ground. Chris Polk opened the way for the Huskies, picking up 78 yards on 13 carries.
The quarterback battle has yet to deliver, both Tuel Locker and struggling through the first half of play. Tuel threw for 79 yards and a touchdown in 15.9 passing. Local was not much better, throwing for 104 yards and one interception in going 13.9.
