Prop 19 Results 2010 Marijuana Lose In California



California voters said no thanks to a ballot initiative that would have become the first state to legalize marijuana for recreational use and sales.
Proposition 19, rejected Tuesday, would have been legal for adults over 21 years to have up to one ounce of marijuana, smoke drugs in public places do not grow on private plots.
The bill also authorized local governments to allow the cultivation of marijuana and commercial sale.
Advocates launched the measure as a revenue source and a sensitive experiment to reduce marijuana-related arrests and crime.
