Russian Get Nobel Prize to Create Graphene

Andrey Russian Konstantin Novoselov and Geim has been awarded the Nobel Prize in physics for his discovery of the sheets one atom thick carbon called graphene.
Graphene has unusual properties, which makes the material of choice for a number of new pieces of technology. Due to its honeycomb structure, has incredible stability and is so far the stiffest material on earth. It is also conductive and nearly transparent.
So far the biggest obstacles to the use of graphene (and his brother materials like carbon nanotubes, which is basically a graphene sheet folded into a tube) are staggering cost and the lack of technology to produce wafers with an area large. The largest yet created wafer is 75 cm wide.
Novoselov and Geim Both are professors at the University of Manchester.
Interestingly, Geim received a "similar" award in 2000. His work on the levitation of frogs was awarded the Ig Nobel prize.
