Speaking before what would have been the 70th birthday of former Beatle, on Saturday, Ono, 77, was in Iceland for the re-lighting of the Imagine Peace Tower that was created in memory of one of the must influential composers world.
"Well, it was very hard because it was a sudden something happened, he was not sick long or anything, just, we were talking before you know, and it was very difficult," he told Reuters, recalling the moment Lennon was murdered outside his apartment building in New York on December 8, 1980.
"I think I'm doing about it in a sort of way, in my own unique way, but it is still continuing," he added.
The Imagine Peace Tower, which consists of reflectors is reflected up toward the sky, near Reykjavik, Iceland, and was released in 2007 by Ono to symbolize the wisdom, healing and joy.
The event in Reykjavik is one of several that are organized worldwide to commemorate the anniversary on 9 October. Internet search site Google paid tribute to Lennon with a hand-drawn logo and mini-video on the basis of his hit "Imagine."
