Declan Sullivan, a 20-year-old from Long Grove, Illinois, was transferred from the LaBar Practice Complex to a hospital in South Bend, where he died.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Declan's family and friends," coach Brian Kelly said in a statement. "Declan was a diligent student worker in our video service and had a great personality and great sense of humor. ... The family of Notre Dame football dearly miss him."
Authorities are investigating the incident involving a hydraulic scissor lift in a day when winds were gusts over 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
