Local media showed Rooney boarding the plane with his England teammates to leave Basel on Monday.
The Times earlier reported that Fabio Capello could do a series of controls on Rooney's mood before assessing whether it was in the right frame of mind to the line against Switzerland.
The newspaper quoted unidentified sources saying that Rooney was "devastated" by the impact of the reports had been in his family. The Daily Mirror reported wife Coleen as a "torn" by the revelations.

But Rooney received good news Monday when Nike sponsor confirmed they were standing by the player.
"We have worked with Wayne for seven years and he remains a Nike athlete," said a Nike spokesman, said. "This is a private matter for Wayne and his family and we have no comments to make at this time
