Due to high demand, shows in Chennai start as early as 5:30 AM. Amidst bursting of firecrackers and dancing, the fans shouted slogans praising the Tamil super hero.
Made on a record budget of Rs 150 crore, the film promises to be a visual treat with eye-popping action and special effects.
The film will be screened in 2,500 cinemas across the country in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions. Once upon a time in 1300 was projected Mumbaai cinemas.
The Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Starer also launch in 30 countries this weekend.
Sreedhar Pillai, film critic, said, "Advertising and the hubbub surrounding the film is phenomenal. That alone is enough for this film to have a bumper opening."
