AirTran Holdings , Southwest Airlines


Southwest Airlines announced a plan for the acquisition of AirTran Holdings, on Monday and traders are lovers of the deal, sending shares higher in comparison with the typical wing-cut suffered by the purchaser.

The combined company will serve more than 100 million customers annually in over 100 different airports. The companies anticipate net synergies of over $ 400 million by 2013 and time costs of the acquisition and integration are expected to be between $ 300 million and $ 500 million.
