Anti-whaling activist Pete Bethune of New Zealand talks about his imprisonment in Japan in a press conference in Auckland July 12, 2010. Bethune, who boarded a Japanese whaling ship in an attempt to stop an annual whale hunt, returned to New Zealand on Saturday after he was sentenced to two years imprisonment suspended for five years by a Japanese court.
Tonight was the season finale of Whale Wars and like many, I wondered what came after Pete Bethune was sentenced to two years in Japanese prison?
Well, the captain Ady Gil and Sea Shepherd protesters finally got home .. After spending four months in jail, and spending half a million dollars in legal fees, the sentence was suspended.
Bethune was taken back to Japan after taking the Shonan Maru No 2, a ship that had sunk his ship several million dollars of speed, Ady Gil, and killed nearly six crew members. I can watch the show regularly and was literally incredible to watch.
Its aim was to address Hiroyuki Komura Japanese whaling ship captain Shonan Maru No. 2, to ruin your boat. Pete knew that he risked imprisonment for boarding the boat, but did not care, and still no regrets. When he arrived back in New Zeleand, was received by his family, his wife Sharyn, and their two daughters, Danielle, 15, and Alycia, 13.
