forecast track of the National Hurricane Center indicates that for Saturday, Fiona will remain just a tropical storm, and there will be hundreds of miles east of northern Florida on a collision course with the Carolinas or New England or in ignominious fiasco the North Atlantic.
According to the National Hurricane Center 8 am advisory, the storm was about 500 miles east of the Leeward Islands.
It was moving west-northwest at a speed of 24 mph.
Its maximum sustained winds were 40 mph, with Fiona only the barest of tropical storms.
Fiona is forecast to make a gradual turn toward the northwest and accelerate and only "slow" is expeted strengthening over the next two days.
