In what surely would be the biggest upset to date elections, the incumbent Senator is losing to Mr. Miller from 51.7 to 48.3 percent. That is the result with two thirds of the votes counted.
And while no doubt represent an upset, a victory for Miller no doubt represent a victory for the former governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin. Palin supported Mr. Miller in July, a decision many criticized at the time.
The governor of Alaska, Sean Parnell said the nomination of his party winning 49 percent of the vote. Scott McAdams won the race for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate.
Palin tweeted on Tuesday night that she is "keeping our fingers crossed" and "prayers to the rises" on the race.
