Oklahoma Election Board


Let i tell you 5-way race for the Democratic nomination at the Leflore County district 1 county commissioner seat in the primary election on Tuesday dropped the current Carroll Rogers and presented its candidature for the applicant Derwin Gist.

The essence will face independent candidate Ike Davis Spiro in Nov. 2 general election.

In a primary, Rogers received 437 votes received by Gist 1433, or 50.96 percent of the vote, Antonio Jones received 63, Aaron Swafford received 361, and Don Young 518.


Primary election results are unofficial until the county board of elections to certify them on Friday. Friday is also the last day for the future voters who are not registered to apply for registration in time to vote in elections on Aug. 24 runoff Leflore Election Commission Secretary Philippe Zearley said.

In his race, Leflore County acting Commissioner District 3 Freddie Cox succumbed challenger DAC Scott at 1,294-1,141 vote. Scott, who took 53.14 percent of votes, will face Republican Bobby J. McKinzey in the general election.

In Leflore County Assessor 3-way race, acting Tim Trent kept his place, receiving 63.42 percent of votes. Trent received 5006 votes to candidates' Denis Yochum in 1408, and Ian Ford in 1479 votes.

In Sequoyah County, 6-way race for the Democratic nomination for the open Commissioner District 1 seat as a result of runoff between Watts and Michael Ray Rhodes, as no candidate received at least 50 percent plus one vote needed to win. Whoever wins will face a runoff Republican Dennis H. Treat in November.

In the primary, Gerald Corbit received 50 votes, Jerry D. Johnson received 181 Paul "Shorty" Moreland was 133, Rhodes received 30.35 percent of the vote, or 601, Steve Russell L. received 224, and Watts received 39.95 percent or 791 votes .

A longtime employee of the district Commissioner 1 Bruce Tabor plans to retire at the end of his term.

4-way race for the Sequoia District 3 places dropped authorized officer, Mike Huff and handed a victory, Jim Rogers, until a Republican or Independent candidate to face in the general election.

In the primary, Huff received 397 votes, Gary Taylor received 521, Carl Reeves received 143, and Rogers received 1,235 votes or 53.79 percent.

In Oklahoma, all the elected officials of the county to serve for four years.

Officers, Leflore and Sequoia board of elections said voter turnout was "busy" as during the early voting and election on Tuesday.

Almost 400 people voted early in Sequoyah County, more than the usual number, Sequoia Election Commission Secretary Kathy Webb said .
