The saffron alliance has criticized Rahul Gandhi, calling his comments as "immature and dangerous." According to Wikileaks, Rahul had warned the U.S. ambassador Timothy Roemer in 2009 on Hindu terrorism in India. He has been quoted as saying, "The growth of Hindu radical groups that create religious tensions and political confrontations with the Muslim community."
BJP general secretary and spokesman Madhav Bhandari has taken exception to the way Rahul interacted with U.S. Ambassador an issue of national importance. "He has shown a lack of maturity. He should have shown some restraint in speaking of a foreign diplomat."
The Sena has also reacted strongly to the revelation Wikileaks. A senior Sena leader said the Congress was deliberately raise the specter of terrorism to gain political advantage saffron. "No one will deny that there may be a small group of hardliners, but you can not compare with LeT," he added.
The Shiv Sena has also reacted strongly to the revelation and called WikiLeaks Rahul observation as part of the Congress conspiracy to divide society into common lines for political gain.
The state Congress has been looking at increasing talk of terrorism saffron and its potential adverse effects on their electoral fortunes in Maharashtra. Mumbai Congress chief Kripashankar Singh has defended Rahul, saying he was simply expressing his concern for India against all forms of terrorism which may affect the national integrity.
The Congress also questioned the credibility of revelation Rahul participation and observation on terrorism saffron. A CCM office-bearer said, "Wikileaks has been talking about the Iraq war and now watching Rahul has suddenly become part of these cables secrets."
The issue of terrorism Saffron is an important political issue in Maharashtra. In fact, the Maharashtra police began to investigate the links of saffron in the Malegaon blast after President PNC and the Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar talked about it in the PNC Alibaug conclave.
The PNC maintained a low profile and not raise the issue of terrorism more saffron. Maharashtra home minister and NCP unconditional RR Patil, told the state legislature during the winter session just concluded that there is no record of any conversation between the dead squad combat terrorism (ETA) and senior chief Hemant Karkare Congress leader Digvijay Singh.
Congress has denied the statement that Singh had a talk with Karkare shortly before being killed in the terrorist attack in Mumbai. Singh said Karkare was under enormous pressure from Hindu terrorist organizations that it was investigating the terrorist organizations of saffron. But the opposition here is linking the observations of Rahul and Digvijay Singh on Karkare demand.
A senior Sena leader told TOI that Congress was deliberately raise the specter of terrorism to gain political advantage saffron. "No one will deny that there may be some small group of hardliners, but you can not compare it LeT," he added.
RR Patil statement in the legislature has also Digvijay Singh in a difficult position because it was unable to provide any evidence so far about his conversation with Hemant Karkare.
