The Orlando Magic have landed Gilbert Arenas, Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu and a couple of blockbuster trades that should come as no surprise given their frustration with the performance of its staff recently. Vince Carter, Marcin Gortat, and a first-round pick went to Phoenix and Rashard Lewis went to Washington in return for Arenas. Mickael Pietrus and a selection of 2011 in the first round will also be sent to Phoenix and the Suns are submitted by Magic forward Earl Clark, according to ESPN.Arenas2
The Magic have been discussing a reorganization of his staff for weeks, taking into account their offensive problems and was previously rumored to be interested in Arenas in early December. He also mentioned how the magic and the Suns could initiate a swap for Carter Richardson earlier this week and sure enough that's what we have.
I was wrong about them sending the Magic Nash Nelson, however - can not be right all the time!
Here are some words of Magic, Otis Smith, GM, courtesy of ESPN:
"We are very excited to welcome these three players to our family," said Magic President Otis Smith said in a statement. "Jason is a tremendous athlete who runs the floor, can shoot the ball and loves to compete. Obviously we are familiar with Hedo. He's a great shooter and is a player who has flourished in our system. We liked Earl in the draft ago few years, and will help strengthen our frontcourt. Vince, Mickael Marcin and did a lot for our organization and wish them every success in the future. "
Arenas-Lewis agreement does not include other parts.
"Gilbert is a proven All-Star in this league and we are excited to add him to our team," Smith said in a news release separately. "He is one of the best scoring guards in the game, you can create chances for his teammates and he is as tough as they come. Rashard was important to help our franchise to the next level, and we wish him and his family all the best. "
How will it help the Magic to trade? Well, for starters, I am one of those people who think that Arenas can help this team in the short and long term and who desperately needs a new beginning, you will receive. It also has a strong and positive relationship with Magic, Otis Smith, GM of his days in Golden State and can have a real future with Orlando. Arenas has shown evidence of recent explosive time this year and appears recovered from previous injuries and the absence of 199 games during the past three years. The magic had been struggling offensively and additions Richardson (19.3 PPG) and Arenas (17.3 PPG) are undoubtedly updates on Carter and Lewis. Richardson is both a shooter and rebounder than Carter and has an expiring contract to Orlando can leave to enter the market next summer and trying to quit or hang if flattering bait before the deadline.
